That's an engine air filter bad service "soon" light comes on?

I think it could be the reason why the light went on, because it has not changed since a certain time, I think. Is this the case? 2001 Nissan Maxima SE

Did you find the gas just before the light went on? If so may not be tight enough cap tight? Has worked well when the light is lit or not perform any different than normal? I do not know that we have never replaced an air filter to meet a service engine soon light. 99% of the time when a client stops at our store and scan the gas cap.
